You are now the ruling council of a small fishing town in the middle of the Great Sea, Asterforth, on the island of Meral Kai. You are a diverse group of heroes, come together on the island for your own purposes and motives, but now share a singular goal: expansion. Albeit with the limited resources of Asterforth and only one ship to your name, you nevertheless plan to expand your power to other islands in the vicinity.
How you came to be a ruling council of this town is a story itself. For your own reasons, you ended up on the island, just time to be caught up in an attack from Orc Reavers. The attack came swiftly and without warning, catching the town by surprise. Thanks to your skill and experience, you managed to drive off the Orcs, although not finishing them off completely. Still, with the rallied village behind you, the Orcs are forced to retreat.
However, in the fight, the leader of the town was killed. Not having much in the way of an election process, the townspeople turned to you. Seeing an opportunity, you took it, and formed the ruling council.
Jacob Mainwaring was a smuggler when first he came to Asterforth, running deshrai silks, weapons and intoxicants across the great sea aboard the Jackdaw’s Laugh. The attack by the Orc reavers came whilst his ship in the harbour, and he armed the townsfolk with blades and crossbows from his hold with the payment of only small ammounts of gold, wedded the promise of far greater reward.
That the ‘greater reward’ would be a position of leadership once the fog of war cleared, he had not expected. But nonetheless he accepted, figuring to turn the role of councilor into advantage and profit…
An honored graduate of the esteemed Vyth Kornari program, Tokkoko Chamba seemed destined for a career of war protecting the Red Mountain from the various scourges of the Darklands. Rather unexpectedly, his first assignment was undistinguished bodyguard work, and later an effective banishment from the Red Mountain on a “Long Term Investigation Into Relic Recovery”, assigned through throwing a dart at a map of the Great Sea. Censorship bureau intervention has blocked the specific reason.
Arriving in Asterforth on a mission of finding the Blessed Fivefold Plate of Retribution, it took him several months to realise the wild goose chase nature of this quest and for morale to decay. Holding the doors of the chapel for over an hour during the reaver attack was a reinvigorating chance to fight, and Chamba has begun to wonder if he might actually find the plate with all of these new ‘recruits’…
Unakain Gloweyes is from a long forgotten school of Swordmages deep in the mountains. Since the fall of her master who tried to protect the school, she has been looking for a way to die and join him in the afterlife. It has to happen when attempting a good deed and that good deed has to appear possible or be the only option available. She has travailed for sometime now looking for something that matches this, helping anyone who asks for it, but has yet to achieve her goal and is becoming dishearten.
She arrived on the island by pure chance and happenstance. She had found a bar that served Firebite ale, a speshle brew made normally by dragonborn, and spent all her silvers on it without noticing it’s strength. She passed out in a life boat that was then loaded onto the ship. That ship was thrown overboard by a large wave and she washed up on the shore of the island with a little pixie in her pocket, right before the attack came. She joined the defense and once they were pushed back, she was allowed to stay. She is done with travail, hoping that the Orcs will fulfill her wish to see her master again.
